Match2Go launches Map Capture: one free hexagon a day, with friends and teams
Match2Go introduced an optional Map Capture game on 2 November 2026. Learn about daily claims, 48-hour shields, invitations, map zoom and team rankings.
A new optional layer on the existing map
On 2 November 2026, Match2Go added Map Capture to its web-based geosocial map. The cheerful game button sits separately from the normal controls. Opening it first displays the rules; agreeing reveals the hexagonal territories. Pressing the button again hides the game and restores the ordinary map without moving the camera. This distinction matters because the underlying service still helps people post genuine needs and offers and talk directly. Map Capture does not introduce a second app, a paid membership tier or a new gate to publishing requests. The interface supports six languages, while local participant availability outside Russia has not been independently established.
A daily move, not an endless tapping competition
The basic move is simple: select a free hexagon, inspect its card and confirm a claim. A registered player has one successful capture or recapture per UTC calendar day. The allowance refreshes at 00:00 UTC and unused turns do not accumulate. Once claimed, a cell receives a 48-hour protection period. After that protection expires, another player may take it with their own daily turn, but nobody can claim their own cell again or take a team-mate’s cell. The server enforces the limit and prevents the same click from being counted twice. Watching the map is possible without using a daily turn or granting phone location access.
Why hexagons become larger when you zoom in
These territories use an H3 geographical grid, rather than coloured stickers fixed to the phone screen. As the underlying map zooms towards a street, the same physical cell grows on screen; zoom out and it shrinks with its real-world surroundings. Claimed cells remain attached to their geographic location when the map moves. Free cells are displayed at a sufficiently detailed zoom level so that the application does not attempt to draw an enormous empty grid across an entire country. Players can inspect different areas and choose where to build a virtual territory without sharing their exact current GPS position. The game layer disappears completely when switched off.
Friends can join without buying extra moves
A game invitation link helps friends find the shared map and can take them to a chosen part of it. Team membership is voluntary. Each team can include up to twenty members, and every member retains their own daily move. Bringing in ten friends does not award ten extra claims to the inviter; the advantage comes from different people choosing neighbouring cells and coordinating genuinely. Three connected team cells unlock a basic achievement. Players may discuss an exploration goal, such as connecting two small clusters, but invitations do not publish real service requests or send automatic messages to strangers. This keeps the playful activity separate from the actual marketplace-free matching system.
Ownership labels, colours and rankings
Each owner is represented by a stable, distinctive colour. Opening an occupied hexagon shows the owner’s public name where available, the team name if applicable, and the time until protection ends. A neutral game nickname is used where a suitable registered profile name is unavailable. Rankings compare the number of cells currently held; team comparisons also provide a per-member figure, so a small active group has a meaningful perspective beside a larger team. These scores are explicitly game scores. They do not certify professional qualifications, service quality, safety, or reliability, and they are not permitted to replace the separate evidence-based reputation of people offering real services.
A game that never blocks genuine requests
Map Capture is free, and the virtual territory does not constitute ownership of a street, building, local business, or anybody else’s announcement. A person can still post a normal request in a rival player’s sector without asking permission or paying a fee. There are no cash rewards, paid sectors or automatic bonus moves in this version. Match2Go remains a geosocial service connecting people who have practical needs and people willing to help, without buying paid advertising to grow. If the idea is useful, share the link with friends rather than inventing activities to win points. The current entry is https://match2go.tech/nearby?game=1, where the rules appear before the game starts.
Match2Go is currently Russia-focused; local participants outside Russia are not verified.
